Life in Year 5
A very warm welcome Year 5! This marks the beginning of Upper Key Stage 2, which means that the pupils are nearing the end of their Primary school journey here at Cleddau Reach; a year to embed the knowledge and skills learnt in lower Key Stage 2 as well as encounter new learning.
All pupils in Year 5 are supported and encouraged to reach their full potential. It is important that all children feel safe and happy in our class, and we provide an environment where their confidence and self-esteem can grow. This is often a year when children grow in maturity and children are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning by being organised, completing homework, and always having the correct personal equipment that is required to complete various tasks.
Every morning we have Numeracy and Literacy which is then followed by topic-based lessons during the afternoon. There are some fantastic topics which we cover throughout the year and the children thoroughly enjoy learning about each one. They are given the opportunity to decide on what they would like to learn through Pupil Voice, as they are always involved in planning ‘Missions’ according to the 6 Areas of Learning.
Throughout the year the children will go on numerous trips and outdoor experiences to enrich their learning. These include going on their first residential trip, which is always a fun and memorable experience that they will remember for the rest of their lives!
We look forward to sharing more of our work and learning for you to enjoy!
